We thought very long and hard as to what we would call our wine. We wanted a name that would reflect its strength and uniqueness, setting our wine apart from others. We believe Trenza is the name that will do this.
Trenza translates into English as “braid”, and refers to any object created by an interweaving or twining of three or more separate strands of one or more materials in a diagonally overlapping pattern. A braided item would be preferred to an individual strand because the braid creates a stronger and more complex item. Generally a braid is a braid. However, the colors, textures, materials and braiding style allow for each braid to be unique.
Trenza is the interweaving and blending of four different grape varieties: the Monastrell (Mourvedre), the Cabernet Sauvignon, the Syrah and the Garnacha Tintorera were the chosen varieties. Each of these grape varieties are recognized independently in the great World of wine for the unique characters that they bring to a bottle of wine, be its deep red, purple o ruby colors, fruity characteristics in aromas and flavours, its ability to age, etc. We believe that with the blend we have chosen to braid together we have taken the best characters that each variety has developed and have created a strong Trenza with great personality, complexity and uniqueness. A crafted Trenza that truly reflects the fruit, the terroir and the great potential of the D.O. Yecla.
